I will have all available (and RSU,IBM or Hiper) maintenance on. And, yes 
fallback is one of my larger concerns. 
One  of my least favorite memories from the early 90s is standalone restore of 
catalog and SMS control dataset volumes between failed IPLs without proper 
fallback PTFs on. I think we were making a large jump to MVS/ESA 2.5, but I 
won't swear to that.
Actual SLED and the 3090 took 40 minutes to IPL after and before each failure. 
It was quite the learning experience and I've tried to do things "right" ever 
since.
