SYMSUB is a REXX routine that he wrote to pass the argument to
MVSVAR('SYMDEF',*) and display or return the result.

What do
%SYMSUB 'SYSNAME'
and
%SYMSUB SYSNAME
do? I don't have access to a machine to try this on.
