Steve,
Yes ... you *must* have this number! The DGTVCNTL
DATA file that is used by RMSMASTR is the one located in VMSYS:DFSMS.CONTROL
...
This is how you can find "the number"
...
Issue a CP LOCATE for the RDEV of one of the tape drives
that is controlled by the 3494. For example I have a tiny ATL with two
tape drives, 0E00 and 0E01:
locate 0e00
RDEV
0FE0E7C8
Ready; T=0.01/0.01 17:46:10
RDEV
0FE0E7C8
Ready; T=0.01/0.01 17:46:10
Now ... display that host storage address for a hex length
of 120:

At hex offset +118 into that storage (I've highlighted it
in RED above) is the storage *address* of RDC (Real

looking for. Display this host storage address for a hex length of
30:

The number you need is at offset +hex 21 for 5 hex bytes
... I've highlighted it in RED above ... in the
example above the number entered on the RM_AUTO_LIBRARY config record is 10568!

Subject: DFSMS/VM config question,
Hello. I'm trying to figure out how to code a parameter with regards to DFSMS.
The parameter name is: RM_AUTO_LIBRARY
It is located in: DGTVCNTL.DATA file. This file is located on the 1B5 mdisk of DFSMS
or in can be in SFS pool VMSYS:DFSMS.CONTROL.
Specfically, the seqnum. The IBM CE did not provide this value nor do I (respectfully) think he would know what it is.
Is located somewhere on the Tape Library Manager pc?
Thanks,
Steve G.
