I know what you said. :-) The procedure for building a DVD image includes tools that you don't have, so you would then ask for the tools. But the procedure and tools have value. You could, but I would like to gently suggest that it isn't going to happen. If you want to be able to have a system that is recoverable from the DVD drive, then that is the requirement to levy. And since it is a function of backup/DR, it properly belongs to the backup products. But keep in mind that its all part and parcel of the larger requirement to get z/VM to support storage devices other than SCSI disk, ECKD, FBA, and 3590 tape.
