Comment #9 on issue 747 by [email protected]: Feature suggestion: Keyboard Shortcut for Specific IM
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=747
I am glad to see this request has not been forgotten, but I find the reasoning behind not implementing this feature a bit confusing. Ctrl+Space for most users means to toggle a specific IME on or off.
Unless Shawn is suggesting Ctrl+Space+Assigned Key will be able to toggle specific IME in ibus 1.5, changing the behavior of Ctrl+Space to cycle through IME will puzzle most users. If the Ctrl+Space cycling through IME is the intent, please reconsider this change, or at least let user have the ability to define their shortcuts.
Finally, the users who needs this request usually don't just use 1, 2 or even 2 IMEs. They usually use 5 or 6 or even more. Especially those in academia working on linguistics, philology, history, archaeology, or say some writer who needs to switch between klingons and vulcan quickly, anyway, such feature is necessary for some people.
