Comment #12 on issue 747 by [email protected]: Feature suggestion:
Keyboard Shortcut for Specific IM
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=747
I decided to reopen this issue because there are many users want this
feature and I agree with their opinions.
I'm using Mac OS X on a daily base.
The way Mac OS X's Input source shortcuts (Mac term for IM Hotkeys) work is
like the following.
If you press Command (Ctrl is generally replaced by Command on Mac) + Space
in a very short period of time. The input method just toggle its state
(on/off).
If you hold Command + Space, a OSD showing the list of available IMs would
pop up. Then you can iterate the IMs by Space key over and over, there is
always one IM being highlighted. If you release the keys, the highlighted
IM is selected.
Well, I guess ibus 1.5 is inspired by the Mac's way. However, this may be
the last thing that FOSS desktop systems should learn from Mac. From my own
experience, it's rather limited and annoying. I used to use U.S., Pinyin -
Simplified and Pinyin - Traditional on my Mac. But now I use U.S. and
Pinyin - Traditional only. I use online converter when Simplified Chinese
is needed.
