I think you don't put the terminal window at that position with the
realistic usage.
I personally use ibus-sunpinyin, which suffers from the issue resolved in
[https://github.com/ibus/ibus/commit/b8f36164], and can not be switched to
horizontal mode.
Thus, under quite a lot of circumstances where users are forced to input
close to the bottom of the screen (eg. using the search functionality of
Firefox, inputing Chinese in Vim's command mode and inputing in boxes on
the bottom of web pages), this is a major inconvenience, espacially to
those who use tiling WMs like XMonad (since the windows are full screen by
default).
