Selecting a new prop isn't something you can normally do on the internet. Water temp and salinity are big factors in proper selection so my first choice would be a top notch local vendor like Alameda Prop and Machine for SF Bay.
I'm not much of a fan of three blades, well I'd guess I'd have to say even fixed two blades don't thrill me. I'm a fan of the Martec Elliptical MKII. I know what about maneuvering in reverse? Yes I can tell the difference when the folder is on but it really has no impact other than RPM. The bite is still there in reverse but at an increased RPM. How often do you practice turning your boat in her own length? It really extends your range of control. I'm thinking of purchasing a 3 blade 13 x 9 prop to replace the 2 blade that's currently in use. Don't get much bite with the 2 blade while maneuvering/docking. I know I'll be sacrificing the speed with less drag of the 2 blade but curious if anyone else had switched to a 3 blade - and if so, what pitch. I have the Universal M18 2 cylinder engine in my '86 C27 hull # 6205. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
