I did the same. Used a few shallow screws - just to keep the orientation of the pump upright.

I drilled two holes over sized holes into the bottom of the bilge and filled them with epoxy. I drilled an installed a stainless thru hull to handle the output. It was a very easy job, very inexpensive and I like the idea of fresh redundant plumbing.
