see page 760 of Nigel Calder's third edition of Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual as on source. I believe that Don Casey also covers in this old boat as well. Back stay doesn't get stressed as it is adjusted according to sail needs on tack. You can also google the subject and get some good info iff the net.
