Have you tried doing a rubbing?  It works when you eyes tell you there's
nothing to read.

I have a 1982 but the only place I have seen any reference to hull number is
on the name plate attached to the cockpit wall next to the tiller. C-27 and
5053 is all it reads. There are no numbers that I can find on the transom on
mine. If it wasn't for the registration I wouldn't know the HIN.

Since 1975, the Month Built information has been represented with a letter.
