Thanks Judy, I bought it on line and the only dealer that I know of that
carries them locally is West Marine and they will not help me because I
did not buy it from them. I tried to find Danforth on line but they are
owned by someone else and they advise to go through a dealer. Any
answers/thoughts?

Danforth replaced a Saturn bulkhead compass for me after it developed a
bubble (after I trailered it to 7000 feet altitude). No charge, no
hassle, just great customer service. The compass wasn't brand new
either!

I bought a new Danforth Bulkhead compass at Christmas time and it came
with a similar bubble. Should I send it back or how do I fix it to get
the bubble out?

I had not; I figured, if enough fluid (mineral spirits?) had leaked out
to
create the air bubble in the short span of time involved, it was clearly
in
need of repair and further quick degradation.

THAT SAID, just for curiosity I just now unpacked the old compass, and
the
bubble looks exactly as it had when we replaced it 3 years ago. I'm a
bit
surprised actually.

(or, in case yahoo mangles those urls, here's some pre-mangled urls,
just
remove the spaces:)

In any case I'd only kept the old one should I have it repaired by a
factory
authorized repair center and subsequently sold on eBay or elsewhere. Any

advice is appreciated.
