My 12 year old mercury 9.9 two-stroke outboard won't go into reverse gear. I could get it fixed but I'm wondering if I should just replace it. One of the most frustrating things about this outboard was that it barely fits in the cut out in the transom. When I lift or lower the engine, I scrape my knuckles as I force it. The engine has other issues I won't go into.
