Michael See if you can get a copy of the Cruising Guide to the New England Coast: Including the Hudson. I think it's been around for 30 years or more.
200+ miles in 5 days on a Catalina may be an adventure. Obviously daily distances and conditions will govern, as will your preferences for what to do in-port. For example, I love West Neck Harbor on Shelter Island for overnight in a quiet anchorage mid-week, but it's crowded and active on weekends, and it's almost the same trip from Block to either Sag Harbor or Greenport, which have much more to offer ashore. Other favorites include Stonington, Old Saybrook, and Port Jefferson. You can find on-line info here http://www.coastalboating.net/Cruising/Destinations/indexDestinations.html Have fun Peter Z -----Original Message----- From: Michael <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, May 20, 2010 1:49 pm Subject: [IC27A] Going to Block Island 6/10 to 6/15 I'm looking for suggestions on what to bring (cruising guides, etc) and where to stay for a fairly short trip from Sea Cliff, NY to Block Island. We're tentatively scheduled to leave on June 10th and return on the 15th. I've wanted to make this trip for a few years now but never got around to it because my last boat and I didn't get along and my wife really wasn't into it, so I've decided to go with a couple of friends instead. The more info I get, the better. I'll have my laptop tethered to my Blackberry for an internet connection so good websites would be very helpful too. Thanks in advance. Michael
