I have done this trip a few times from Huntington. The reality is that you can only sail in the afternoon on LIS due the lack of wind. It would be tough do to it in 5 days unless you motor a fair bit of the way. You also need to decide whether to go via the "Race" or the "Gut. Although a third way is to go between Fishers Islands and CT. I have done all three and so long as you get the tide and wind right not much to choose between them. Get a copy of the Embassy Guide: Cruising Guide Long Island Sound. It has a wealth of information on various harbors and moorings. Think about Port Jeff as your first stop. Then maybe Shelter Island via the "Gut" for the second and then BI. These are all long days and you may want to add another stop along the way. Andrew C27 TR "Emily Rose"
