Mark's called for the right stuff.

This time of year it's typical to have a number of spider nests appear in
those grooves. For that reason I try to make up a lube patch of some kind
and run it up and down (don't forget a messenger line) to clear the groove
without transferring the problem to the sail's luff. If you've got a sail
maker in your harbor see if they have a scrap of luff tape about a foot long
and start with that.

"Mc Lube", it's a "dry Teflon" type available at West, most chandleries or
online. Race boats use it everywhere, especially in the luff groove.

Hi all. my headsail with #6 luff tape requires much force to hoist up the
furler groove. Can i put lube on the sail luff tape to ease the friction?
and what is a safe lube to use ?// leroy
