New member, first time poster.
I am shopping for a Catalina 27 in the Pacific Northwest & thought it might
be a good idea to mine the collective wisdom of the group to get some ideas of
good things to look for when shopping. Some specific questions:
What are the differences b/w various years of the 27?
Are hull blisters much of an issue w/ these boats? Some years worse?
I understand they added molded exterior chain lockers in later model years...
when did these start & do people like them?
From skulking around the internet, it seems like these are some of the things
to watch for. I would appreciate any comments:
backing plates on deck hardware
keel bolts (does Catalina have a fix for this?)
Lower shroud through deck bolts/backing plates
Spreader sockets (did they ever fix this & what year)
For folks w/ the outboard: how does that work in a seaway? Cavitation? Power
ok?
