I'm not a big fan of e-mail. Sometimes it's hard to read sarcasim. Maybe your
origional response wasn't meant to be sarcstic. If not, my apologies. I also
own a Catalina 27 (I'm not sure if your choice of putting "owners" in bold form
was implying that maybe I didn't), in fact until last week I owned two.

Cheers, Mike

sell

My point, on a forum of Catalina 27 owners, is to perhaps to help the seller
list his boat in a fashion that might convince potiention buyers that the boat
listed is the way he describes. I own a Catalina 27, and when I purchased it I
looked at perhaps 25 boats, some were listed honestly and others had some
creative descriptions. I learned quickly who I could trust. I felt if the
seller was honest with the obvious things perhaps he was also honest with the
not so obvious. I made the comments in hopes that Todd might have altered his
boat description to be more in line with reality.

Now maybe Todd can get 6 adults in his cockpit while sailing and 3 more in
the cabin, but on my boat I find it less than comfortable with any more than
four adults in the cockpit with any boat speed higher than just ghosting along.
I suppose the number of crew you take out sailing is a personal space thing,
but when I think back to the discussion we had a short while back about
shortening the tiller to make it more comfortable for the crew I didn't think
we were describing having 6-8 adults in the cockpit.

A kingsize bed is 76" x 80" inches. I would like to see anyone get a
6'4"x6'6" mattress in a boat with 8'10" beam. By the way, a queen size
mattress is 60"x80", so your 68" is 8" narrower than a King and just 8" wider
than a queen. Some Kings are listed even larger than 76x80.

Next the head, oh sorry, the "Bath", is private but. Webster's 3rd definition
of a bath is: "3 b : . a series of rooms designed for bathing". In my boat's
head I would never consider that space suitable for bathing.

But by all means describe your boat the best way your feel will sell the boat.

A very diplomatic response to a rather in-sensitive e-mail. If I was looking
at a sailboat, relative to other boats in the same length, your claims are not
that far off. If someone knows the size of a Catalina 27, they already have a
vision in their mind. If they don't know the boat, this ad will get their
attention. I wish I could help, Florida is a little too far for me. Best of
luck, I wish you my best.

  Joe, what was the point?

    Sir,
Thank you very much for helping by pointing out my mistakes in a public
forum. Maybe you would be so kind as to help me correct my faulty thinking.

    1. By my tape measure my filler cushions are 68" wide which is almost 10"
wider than the queen bed in my bedroom. Maybe I should write queen size plus
10" inches?

    2. Not sure about your boat, but mine by marine standards has a "private
bath". It is a dedicated bathroom with a door and not a portapottie under a V
berth cushion. Not a large one..but it is private.

    3. I guess I should say seats 6. I sailed 3 days ago with 6 in the cockpit
and no one behind the traveler. Plus 3 in the cabin. All adults and we left the
dock for hours?

An anchor sunshade is a tentlike cover that goes over the top of the boom
for shade while at anchor or dock.

Reality???? My reality is that if I don't get my boat sold I can't pay my
rent on the 1st. I have hung onto my love of sailing as long as I could for my
children and myself, but we can't afford to do it any longer. Thank you for
reminding me of that.
