Ralph,

What do you have for a starter switch?

Reading this made me think about how the C270 panel works. The key ignition
switch has OFF-ON-(Glow Plug - momentary) and then a starter button.

Rob,

Since a Glow Plug is simply a Heating Element, There's not much that could
be could be considered "Damage" done by running it longer than necessary.
You probably just Shortened the Life of the heater. Like any "incandescent
light bulb" it has a finite life.

A glow plug is one of those "forgotten" parts of the engine. One should
carry a spare.

The good news is that they are easy to change out.

The more basic question I would ask is.. Why didn't you replace the Switch
with an " Momentary " rather than a common On/Off.

Get rid of the On/Off.

I replaced mine with a Single Pole/Double Throw (SPDT) Momentary switch so I
can hold the Bat Handle either UP or Down.

When released, it returns to the center OFF position.

An even better replacement switch , IMHO, would be a "Push to Make"
Momentary. Similar to the Starter switch on many devices.

Of course.. Always use WATERPROOF switches..

any damage to anything other than smacking my forehead out of frustration?
