Hi Onat,

The roller you are looking at is the C270's stem fitting. I'm not totally
familiar with the anchor locker configuration on your C27 but on the C270
the right roller is set up so an anchor could be locked in place on the
roller. There is a hump or tunnel back into the locker that lets the chain
pass through with the locker closed. There is also a cleat at the back of
the locker so you can tie a snubber line to the chain as a backup to
accidental deployment.

When I haul an anchor my goal is to get underway quickly to I can clear any
other boat quickly and get some maneuvering room. I've drilled my Delta Fast
Set so I can raise it and pin it in place for the short term. Once I've got
maneuvering room I'll go forward and secure it in the locker. You really
can't afford to take a chance on the anchor deploying while you are underway
and I don't have a good quality chain stopper.

A 22 pound Delta sounds like a lot of anchor. I think mine is a 16 lb and I
have 30 in a heavy chain.

Subject: [IC27A] Anchor pains...

Hi All,

I was wondering about your experiences with anchor rollers. I have a 1984
standard and have a 22lb delta anchor. I have been manually dropping and
pulling the anchor from the bow. I am planning to install the off-the-shelf
stem fitting anchor roller from Catalina Direct but I am thinking that once
the anchor is up, it will be a challenge to bring it in and place back in
the anchor locker. Any better suggestions for anchor rollers and best
practices?

Thanks,
Onat
