Onat,

I live in an area that might freeze in the winter so keeping the anchor
locker drained is important to prevent a sheet of ice from stressing the
anchor locker floor. I have a product called Dri-Deck fit wall to wall to
keep the anchor rode from holding back water. It would also protect the
floor from anchor abuse but I actually lay the anchor on its side in the
locker on top of the rode. I keep two anchors with chain and rode so they
only go in one way.

If you are replacing standing rigging be sure to get a bid from Seco South
in FL. Prices will sound too low to be true but it is top quality rigging
from a volume shop associated with a cable manufacturer. Where ever you do
it be sure to request the fittings be filled with polysulfide caulking prior
to crimping. According to Boat US claims study this greatly increases the
rigging service life.

Phil,

Thanks for this. 84s do have a hump into the locker but I am thinking that
once the anchor is up, I would flip it under the pulpit railing and place in
anchor locker. I am not sure about sailing with the delta anchor left in the
roller. Besides, from the photos, the stem roller's base plate doesn't look
long enough to protect the deck and support a delta anchor. Doesn't the
bottom of the anchor scratch the surface of the anchor locker?

Interesting you mention the cleat at the back of the locker as mine seem to
have been removed by the previous owner.

I am going to be replacing my standing rigging and while doing that trying
to gauge if it is worth the investment to install the roller at the stem of
the forestay. I realize it is a lot of anchor and chain but helps my wife
and I feel secure - and less intervals of anchor watch at night!

Appreciate the input.
