Thanks for this.  84s do have a hump into the locker but I am thinking that 
once the anchor is up, I would flip it under the pulpit railing and place in 
anchor locker. I am not sure about sailing with the delta anchor left in the 
roller. Besides, from the photos, the stem roller's base plate doesn't look 
long enough to protect the deck and support a delta anchor. Doesn't the bottom 
of the anchor scratch the surface of the anchor locker? 

Interesting you mention the cleat at the back of the locker as mine seem to 
have been removed by the previous owner. 

I am going to be replacing my standing rigging and while doing that trying to 
gauge if it is worth the investment to install the roller at the stem of the 
forestay.  I realize it is a lot of anchor and chain but helps my wife and I 
feel secure - and less intervals of anchor watch at night!
