  I personally think the Icelandic only for registered names is stupid.  When I 
was allowed to choose Andi's name, I picked a name that sounded 
English/American.  I pronounce it like Andy, even tho I know it is an incorrect 
pronounciation.  If you want an Icelandic name - go for it, but it is a hard 
language to get around and I should not be force fed a name when it is MY MONEY 
that bought the horse.  I'm glad you brought this up, because it is a real pet 
peeve of mine!!!
   
  As for those who give you a hard time for your horse's names - stupid is as 
stupid does.
