>>>> I don't know what size Simon, Connie and Betty Sue are, but coyotes will get your small dogs and any cats. I don't think I would be very comfortable with one being that close. Coyotes are really more of a threat in this regard than foxes. Annie
I was just looking at this website - I assume the information is accurate: http://www.desertusa.com/video_pages/coyote_movie.html There is a video, and some audio links to the yipping. Simon and Connie are English Setters, Simon a big one at about 70 pounds. Connie is about 40 pounds, and Betty Sue (Jack Russell) is only about 15 pounds. They are either in the house or in the fenced yard, only loose if we are outside with them. I hope that Simon and Connie would protect Betty Sue, as well as the handicapped cats who live inside the fenced yard - all three are very alert and will bark like crazy if something is on the prowl. I have four barn cats, and those are the ones I'm worried about. They refuse to stay inside the fenced yard with the dogs. They do climb trees pretty well and have the barn loft to hide in. I hope that a coyote can't climb the ladder to the loft. Frank, the pug puppy, is only maybe 5-6 pounds. I won't be letting him out of my sight outside.
