Mine is always loose enough that you don't need to undo it to put it
on or off. Probably has no effect whatsoever except on my head.

However, I disagree that drop nosebands are placed on soft tissue. A
correctly fitted drop noseband should be high enough that it's on
bone, not soft tissue. If it's not on bone, it's too low. I've seen
the video you mention - I'm pretty sure there was a cut between the
"correct fitting" shot, and the close up once the rider was mounted. I
suspect there was a change in fitting in between - "do as I say, not
as I do".
