I find hitting does not work... Approach and retreat is helping my horse in this department,
Jewel is one of those horses who really prefers to have the lead... Humm, once again, is it him, or is it me.. I love being in the lead too... however, I have been trying to teach him to be anywhere in the herd by lots of approach and retreat, I also make it more difficult for him when he is dancing, we take the woods, I mean the WOODs, I pick the most difficult places to go, OFF TRAIL and get him thinking, then when he is mellow, I bring him back to the trail...
