This same breeder gave my grandson and me a free lease on a NSH mare. It was a pretty sad story. The horse was in Las Vegas. The owner was dying (and did die not long after Claudette came to us). She was being used for dressage and we were thinking we could share her. I'd use her for endurance and Gabe could continue with his dressage. She arrived in Oregon crazed out of her mind. She had chewed through her lead rope in the first 10 miles of the trip. She had always been in a stall, wouldn't eat pasture grass and didn't know to drink out of a big trough/tank. I knew I wouldn't be riding her, but Gabe tried for a while. He took her out on a group trail ride and she had a wreck so spectacular that he thought she was dead. He went off and she cart-wheeled down into a small ravine. We finally told the guy she wouldn't work for us and an experienced girl took her on with help from several experienced Arab trainers.. Over a period of about four years, they are actually doing very well together. Ashley shows her successfully. They managed to get some weight on her. She NEVER goes out on trail. Claudette simply cannot handle anything outside her zone of safety. She has had several more nasty wrecks, but none for a year or so. Poor horse! Lucky horse. The breeder signed over the papers to Ashley. Nancy
