They are literally like having small children around - you talk to

I think we may have a quiet one on our hands.  At seven months, she is still 
very VERY quiet.  She will chatter when I leave the room and she's more 
vocal if I leave "her" iPod playing.

I do think she understands simple commands and she seems very intent on what 
I'm doing and willl imitate what I demonstrate for her,  but unless she's 
practicing in private, she's a ways off from using expressive language.
