I'm worried about Nanna. I went for a ride, with a
friend and her Icy today, up a mountain near my house.
Because the last time we took that route, Nanna was
panting at the top, I hand-walked her a good part of
the way. When we got to the top, she was panting
hard, but, not sweating much at all. She was a little
sweaty around the girth area. My friends' horse who is
17, fatter than Nanna, and ridden less frequently, was
breathing hard for a minute or two and then returned
to pretty normal breathing. Her horse's neck, chest
and nose were sweaty. Nanna panted for around 15
minutes and I hand-walked her down the mountain. I
called the vet when I got home because I'm worried
about anhydrosis (inability to sweat). He thought
her breathing seemed abnormal given the amount of
exercise I described. There are other possibilities
that could be causing this.

Anybody have any ideas? I guess we will start out
with several tests to try to rule things out.

Thanks, Kim
