It is a feeling, becuase if you are riding an Icelandic with a conformation of a high neck set, then while you are riding their neck is literally right infront of you, infront of your chest, it is a very cool feeling that I enjoy. I am not talking about a yank the head up and hollow the back, to force a horse without that conformation to try to do that. I will never have to do that with Randver as he naturally carriers his head high....My mare Skyfaxa has more of the Qh type low set head....and I would never force her head into a position that is not natural....she tolts great with her conformation, which is very much like her sires, Pruther. All that I am saying is that I enjoy the feeling of riding a horse with a high head set, it feels majestic like you could do anything, go anywhere.....an illision if you will but a fun one. I think a lot of us have illusions while riding....when I rode western style with my appy I had a different type of feeling......I would put eagle and hawk feathers on her sparse mane with really cool blankets and dipped my hand in paint and take her out on the trail......riding gives some of us a connection to something in the past , the future, whatever it is we desire to connect to. And the type of horse you ride and their conformation and the way they carry themselves lend to our illusions.......and of course the attire while you ride.
