Wait....! This isn't just any sheath, it's TRAUSTI'S sheath. Wonderful,
patient,
easy-going stoic horse that he is, Trausti had one issue that we never fully
worked
through - having his sheath cleaned. I've never seen a gelding that was
really
difficult to clean before I met him, but he was difficult. I don't know what
it is about
him, but he's always gotten HORRIBLE crusty gunk on his thingy, worse than any
horse I've
ever seen. And it's hard, crusty junk, stuck like glue, or maybe more like
hardened
cement, which makes it really hard to get off, which in turn no doubt makes him
very sore,
which makes him even less happy about having hands in that area. The last two
times he
had his teeth floated, I had the vet clean it thoroughly while he was sedated,
and even
then, he'd wince. We had been working on getting him less flinchy, by putting
KY jelly
(actually "J-Jelly" from Jeffers - cheaper and available in quanities) up in
the sheath
periodically to soften the crud.

But, for Donny to have cleaned his sheath so soon after he met them, I'm truly
amazed.
Maybe Trausti trusted a guy to be more sensitive, since guys seem to identify
with such.

I'm pretty sure that Cary has never cleaned a gelding's sheath. Donny rocks!
