Quoting Shachar Shemesh, from the post of Fri, 14 Mar:I'm trying to get sun and talk to them. We can always expand later, and 36G is still better than nothing.
I don't know about IGLU space, but there are news from sun indeed.
I finally got the server yesturday. It only has one 36GB disk. While this is not so bad, it is also not as much as I had hoped for. I'll try to talk to Moti Sadovsky from Sun on Sunday about another disk (there is one empty bay there).
I thought the whole point is to get something around the 200GB. with
many thanks and deep admiration to sun... 36G is almost useless.
The server specs, while far from mind blowingly exiting, are quiteI know. It's just that I am currently without anything concrete to do work-wise, so I can dedicate the three days full-time necessary for properly setting it up. Did not mean any distrust.sufficient (this one problem nonwithstanding). I am currently in the process of installing the OS for it (Debian Woody - it came installed
umm, I sort-of thought I volunteered for the task...
GBY claimed he would have shipped such a server back. I wouldn't, personally, but it certainly does not indicate a good understanding of the issues at hand. I am trying to get hold of Moti to talk about that as well (as a friendly advice).was not even hardened as a server (and one would think that people who buy an LX50 from sun don't really need TuxRacer preinstalled on it). I'm
then how would the consultants make money?
I would love to. The problem is that I don't have the resources to try and get the donation from anyone else at the moment. I hereby authorize all list subscribers to try and solicit a server colocation donation from any ISP in Israel that officially supports Linux on Hamakor's behalf. If there is a principal agreement, but they want to discuss specific details, or if the usual payment we wish to give (i.e. - a banner similar in size and location to the ones we currently have on IGLU) are not agreed, please tell them to call me at 054-399089.I have also talked to Amir (actcom's CEO). They will host the newI suggested before, what about a different ISP for a change?

I've already discussed coordination with Amir. The address is supposed to be http://mirror.israel.net/ and http://freebsd.israel.net (have not looked too deeply into it). I'm thinking of setting up a redirection URL, so that we give a unified URL "http://www.hamakor.org.il/mirrors/", and certain subdirs send redirects to other mirrors in Israel. This way we can move mirrors from one server to another without changing the mirror's URL.whole bunch (about 100GB) of open source related mirrors themselves.
We need to coordinate efforts to avoid duplicates.

from any Israeli linux site or mentioned in linux-il. what is that
server's address, what's on it, and who runs it so we can coordinate?
