I know. It's just that I am currently without anything concrete to do work-wise, so I can dedicate the three days full-time necessary for properly setting it up. Did not mean any distrust.

no, no, didn't think that. I just meant let's coordinate (if you need me
for the mail system for instance. I do the vpopmail/imp pop toaster
setup blindfolded by now :)

I know. So do I. The problem is that I'm actually trying to keep this server "free software only". I'm currently going after a postfix/mailman installation. If that turns out really really horrible, we'll raise the qmail issue again.

It turns out Amir (of actcom) HATES qmail for being "Anti-social". I asked what's anti-social about the program (as opposed to it's author, where no such question is necessary). It appears that qmail does not collect recepients for common MXes, thus wasting HUGE amounts of bandwidth. In essence, if it has a single message it needs to send to 100 recepients, 10 of which are on a single mail server, it will connect and send the entire message, over and over, 10 times.

I suggested before, what about a different ISP for a change?

I would love to. The problem is that I don't have the resources to try
and get the donation from anyone else at the moment. I hereby

ok, I'll talk to whoever I know.

from any ISP in Israel that officially supports Linux on Hamakor's

umm, who _officially_ supports Linux? I don't think even Actcom does... it will be rediculous to expect that from an ISP in Israel of today :)

actually, quite a few of them do.

A while back someone posted a link to ynet (I think) saying that, of the main five ISPs, about three officially support Linux.

As these mirrors are supposed to serve the linux community, I think it makes sense to prefer that ISPs where Linux users are most likely to connect through are also those that host the mirroring servers.

for me, any ISP with an inclination to give us free hosting is good
natured enough to be dubbed "linux friendly". I separate the web hosting
business from the end user connectivity business.

I differ - see above.

I've already discussed coordination with Amir. The address is supposed
to be http://mirror.israel.net/ and http://freebsd.israel.net (have
not looked too deeply into it). I'm thinking of setting up a

AHA! they mirror kernel.org and much more RHL than IGLU, why not drop those mirrors ourselves in favor of other stuff, especially Israeli projects like Xparam, Kinneret and the likes?

That frees up over half of IGLU's disk space!!!

That's why I bring it up. When I have time to go through the mirrors I'll post my recommendations.
