If u think you have not fomatted the linux partition and just overwritten grub so i will suggest you just use ubuntu live cd and install grub again with the following command: grub-install /dev/hda or grub-install /dev/sda You can check whether your harddisk is hda or sda with fdisk -l it will show you at the top after executing the command
and if you want to see the data of linux partition in windows you can use ext2fs software.
