Hay if you have enough space on hd, no need to use external hd. Ubuntu offer
the unique solution for this situation.
Just put in ubuntu cd  on XP. Autorun will show you wubi menu. from there
you can install ubuntu into your pc without risk.
With wubi, you dont need to make partition for ubutu and you can uninstall
ubuntu like uninstalling a normal application from you hd.
