I have a SiS 6326 card and have been successfully using X for the past
couple of months with the following tweaks to the XF86Config file:
in the section "Device" for the card, add the following:
Option "no_accel"
Option "no_linear"
Option "sw_cursor"
While it will result in inability to use >8bpp depth, working with X shall
not be a problem.
