folks,
i have a problem with video cd-s in linux. when i play a ".dat" file from a
hard disk location, it plays fine. but it doesn't play from the cd drive.
there is no error message - the application simply exits (i am using mtvp).
secondly, i can mount video cd-s in the regular fashion, but cannot copy
from them to the hard disk. the error message that i get when i try to do
this is provided in the attachment. the mounting is okay, and the file
system is correctly recognised as iso nine-thousand-something, which is i
think the same for all data cd-s. i can copy from all other data cd-s; video
cd-s and ".dat" files are the only thing i have a problem with. can there be
a problem with my cd drive?
i have two hdd-s as primary master and slave, and the cdrom is the secondary
slave. dma is not activated for any of those drives (and THAT is another
problem - since i bought my new 20 gb hdd, i have not been able to turn on
dma successfully. previously i could do it on my 4.3 gb hdd, but after the
addition, i can't do it on either).
