Dear Sayamindu,
I think that one can use a non-X Linux system very efficiently,
like the old days Slackware Linux. However, if one still prefers X
please make sure that it is restricted to Windowmaker, Afterstep, Twm.
Also, about the distribution: why not give a try to Slackware
Distribution ?? I liked the old days one, especially because of its
efficiency regarding h/w issues.
