For a free OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program, visit http://altmark.nat.uni-magdeburg.de/~jschulen/ocr/index.html and pick up the source.
This program, called gocr, takes a scanned page of plain English text in .pbm format and extracts the text. It does a fairly good job when the text is in Times Roman, although it makes certain fairly consistent mistakes. It has a harder time with italics. Even so, using it is better than having to key in several pages in a hurry. - Manas Laha -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
