Hi! Sayamindu and all the others interested in porting Bangla to Gnome: NCST, Pune are doing some good work on Indian language fonts and Linux. They are customizing Gnome for Indian languages. This is their wbsite: http://rohini.ncst.ernet.in/indix. Some months back I had some correspondence with Keyur Shroff ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), of NCST, about getting Gnome to use Bangla. He sent me details about what was to be done. The work involves, as you already know, customizing messages in some files. Alas! the Indix software works only on RH 7+ (something to do with some libraries, I think). I only had RH 6.2 and I didn't want to upgrade just then (I don't want to, even now!) So that was the end of my stab at Bangla-customizing Gnome. But you might have better luck (and more perseverance!).
