well,
basically, kde is ok when u want to bring a guy from win to lin.
but when u need more power and freedom and also configurabilty - nothing
beats gnome :D

why, it takes care of all dependencies - the only problem is that it
works with mdk only stuffs - i think all distros shoulkd migrate towards
a unified software distribution/installation system

You can use aliases to  decrease the amount of typing you need 
to do to get commands you commonly use. You can  place them in 
your startup file (.login) as well. Under csh and tcsh: 

alias lf ls -FA
alias ll ls -lA
