basically, the steps are
1. fdformat /dev/fd0
2. makefs -t <whatever fs u want> /dev/fd0

There are times it is only during opration you realise that a
CD has unreadable sectors ... To check for read defects do:
'dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/dev/null'
All read defects will be reported.
