never heard of people needing spares for monitors. you aren't going to try to fix it yourself if it goes bust, are you? so go for what you like best. i personally have been using samsung for the last five years, and am very satisfied. never seen a philips, so can't compare. > Re hardware, dad was thinking of upgrading the system. AMD is soon going to follow intel into the 0.13-micron architecture (codename thoroughbred). should be a vast improvement. > 128mb ddrram > nvidia nforce 220d based mobo with 8 or 16 mb mem shared for integrated > video. > > Are there any issues re: integrated video and sound, in linux? Plz mail me ur opinions. no experience about nforce mobo-s. regarding specifying ram, of course you don't do it by hand every time! you only need to insert an appropriate line in /etc/lilo.conf. refer to the lilo manuals for details. some distro-s will even do it for you at install time. - t. -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
