never heard of people needing spares for monitors. you aren't going to
try to fix it yourself if it goes bust, are you? so go for what you like
best. i personally have been using samsung for the last five years, and
am very satisfied. never seen a philips, so can't compare.

if i were you, i'd wait for a few months. AMD is soon going to follow
intel into the 0.13-micron architecture (codename thoroughbred). should
be a vast improvement.

no experience about nforce mobo-s. regarding specifying ram, of course
you don't do it by hand every time! you only need to insert an
appropriate line in /etc/lilo.conf. refer to the lilo manuals for
details. some distro-s will even do it for you at install time.
