hi,

let's start at the very beginning shall we - it is a very good place to
start.

when a mail comes in with the ubiquitous *we*, it gets my attention. now who
are this we ? and why are *we* being represented by you ?

for a development bench, your setup sure seems a bit dated ! any special
reasons to get attached to RH7.1 ? as well as AdabasD ? there has been an
awful lot of good releases since your distribution and you can have a
plethora of choicest db and frontend platforms to work/play with if you
decide to look around.

also did you go through the following - http://glade.gnome.org/FAQ ,
http://glade.gnome.org/index.html , http://glade.gnome.org/lists.html [be on
the particular list as it surely will help] ? or done a google with a string
including 'database connectivity, adabas, glade' ?

*we* have tried different versions of Linux and the problem still persists !
let me make an analogy. you have a electrical socket and in spite of
plugging in a variety of gadgets, none of them work although you have normal
power supply to other parts of the house as well as other points in that
switchboard - conclusions ? the socket point is possibly at fault ! so
before going about changing the entire wiring from time to time, did you by
any chance look at the socket itself. meaning, was your install perfect 10 ?
i had in RH7.1 installed AdabasD and taken a look-see and it went smoothly.
so check this out first. i believe that there is a fault with your install.
a dependency problem maybe, although with the dependency check during
install time, i cannot see how this can go wrong ! do a quick install with
only those components you think you require and then revert back.

a note of interrogation one too many is a sure sign of distress ! so since
you are keen on a VB-Access combo in Linux [ehh ?], and need a quick-n-dirty
frontend also, why are you not taking in either of PostgreSql or MySQL ?

we really don't need appreciation for our contribution(s), simply
acknowledging that we helped you along will be good enough. and get a grip
on the concept of the mailing lists. you're not actually writing in to a
Vendor Tech Support <grin>
drop in at one of the meets and we'll see what we can provide by means of
pointers
