Yes that is so. But I am not running either Gnome or KDE. I do not have
them in my system. I use XFCE only. From KDE, I use only KDM.

Even after deinstalling xscreensaver, the problem remains. Also, this is
not related to XFCE. I left the box running without logging in at KDM
screen, (so no WM) and int he next one hour, X crashed three times
(20mins gaps). I have left the box in only "X" and the same happens.

Yesterday, I tried to replace the processor in the MOBO with the old
P-I, and that also did not help. So that leaves one possibility of
chipset and XFree86 ver4.1.
