-------- Forwarded Message -------- From: Blake Ross <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: @stanford.edu Subject: [Updates] Two days. Two million downloads. Date: Fri, 12 Nov 2004 00:00:31 -0800 Hi everyone,
Two days after the launch of Firefox 1.0, we're looking at over 2.1 million downloads. We're looking at it--but we can hardly believe it. This is truly unprecedented in the history of Mozilla releases, and quite possibly in the history of open source software. And it's all thanks to your efforts. One thing you can do right now is provide your feedback about the 1.0 release over at c|net download.com: http://www.download.com/3302-2356_4-10335582.html. Your reviews will help sway on-the-fence visitors to make the switch. Please note that even if you previously rated and submitted a review of Firefox, those do not carry over to the new release. This only takes 2 minutes and is one of the most valuable ways to spread the word: fifty thousand people have downloaded Firefox from c|net in the past two days alone, and we've been on their most popular downloads list for 7 straight weeks! The next few weeks will be an exciting time for SpreadFirefox users as we work feverishly to build up the community and provide it with the finest tools to spread the word. We are seeking to bring the site out of "beta" status within the month. To find out more about this, to get an update on the New York Times ad campaign and to learn more about what's in store, be sure to check out our recent update: http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=node/view/5618. One of the most exciting efforts you'll be hearing more about over the next couple of weeks is our forthcoming campaign to spread the fire at thousands of colleges worldwide. We've selected five people to lead students around the world in an unparalleled grassroots campaign, and we're currently seeking to build teams of student volunteers who attend college in one of four U.S. states: New York, Indiana, California and Oregon. For more information, and to apply, check out http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=node/view/5807. And if you don't live in one of these states (or in the U.S. at all), no worries: we just want to start small, but we plan to branch out everywhere. Thanks everyone! Let's hit 3 million downloads tomorrow, shall we? --Blake, on behalf of the sfx team _______________________________________________ Updates mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hornytoad.mozilla.org/mailman/listinfo/updates -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
