Not really, in my experience Linux users simply learn over time to try and use a)what works surefire and b)what works the fastest. Its sometimes the GUI sometimes the command line! The same applies for troubleshooting. If Knoppix live-cd will do it faster/better than the slack-bootable in a troubleshoot, I did use it anyday.
