Hi,
As many of you probably know, nowadays, I spend Tuesday to Saturday
outside Kolkata in my college hostel.
I take my laptop to my hostel, but I am yet to find a way to connect to
the internet from the hostel.
Of late, I have been looking at the various options, and GPRS seems to
be the only viable one.
We get BSNL (Sarisha tower) in the hostel, along with Airtel. My Hutch
connection works, but the signal is really weak (tower is usually
Diamond Harbour or Falta). Reliance does not work.

I believe Sarisha falls in the Bengal circle of BSNL (not the Kolkata
one), and I don't think BSNL Bengal provides GPRS service.

Airtel has something called Airtel Mobile Office which they offer at a
flat rate of Rs 600 per month.

Any other suggestions/experiences of people with GPRS from Airtel would
be very helpful.

-thanks-
Sayamindu

PS: My college is about 10 minutes walking distance from Sarisha, and
around 20 minutes drive from Diamond Harbour/Raichak.
