Strange word to use, makes me feel like a criminal :)

Speaking from the point of view of a person involved with Debian, I
would prefer Mepis over Knoppix, for the simple reason, that Mepis was
intended to be used both as a live-cd and an install cd. Knoppix has a
lot of Knoppix specific patches which create problems when it is used as
an install cd, especially when upgrading from official Debian
repositories. I have not seen any such complaints about Mepis.

Speaking from a Linux enthusiast's point of view:
1. I haven't tried out Slack
2. I haven't tried out FreeDuc
3. Suse is a good choice, but had problems getting it to boot on some
machines, never bothered to find out if it was a CD problem, a machine
problem or Suse's problem. Besides, is it installable ? The question is
moot if the "innocents" are planning never to install Linux, in which
case the preference for Mepis over Knoppix is also unfair.
