Well, our CD does not have a crucial component - a Office package. ...and the software is slightly outdated - we have seen two major GNOME releases after the CD was released.

Hmm! I see the point. But now that OO can do Bangla, and considering that its been a long time since the first release of Ankur, isn't it time for the next one? Anything I can do to help speed up the process?
Well, we are working on a proper installable distro now - that would cover most of the support Indic languages. It would be Debian inside - Fedora outside (ie, it will have Anaconda and the other fancy stuff for configuration and installation, and will be using apt for package management (and treat *.deb as the native package file format)). Screenshots at http://sayamindu.randomink.org/misc/mockup_screen.png (mockup of the desktop) http://sayamindu.randomink.org/gallery/Screenshots (installation in different languages)
Hopefully we will have a first release in Q2 2005. -sdg-
Oh! The screenshots looks really good, especially OO. I am now really looking forward to the new release. BTW, re. the desktop, would "aabarjanaa" sound better than "aabarjanaar baaksa"?
